Drew Torbin is the Founder of Black Bear Energy Inc., where he spent over a decade building and leading an extraordinary team and growing the company into a leading commercial buyer’s representative for onsite renewable energy. Drew launched Black Bear in April 2015 with the mission of accelerating clean energy adoption for commercial property owners, fundamentally changing how renewables are evaluated, procured, and deployed across the U.S.

Under his leadership, Black Bear helped clients competitively bid more than 2,000 clean technology projects across over 20 states. He established Black Bear as a tech-enabled services firm, combining data-driven procurement with guided execution to deliver scalable, repeatable results for institutional real estate owners.Prior to founding Black Bear, Drew created and led the renewable energy group at the world’s largest industrial REIT, where his team deployed more than 120 megawatts of distributed solar projects. Earlier in his career, he worked as an analyst at Litchfield Capital Management, LLC, a U.S. equity long/short hedge fund.

Drew holds a B.S. from the University of Colorado Boulder and an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a graduate of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Energy Executive Leadership Program and has served on several boards, including the Colorado New Energy Improvement District. In January 2026 after nearly 11 years, Drew stepped away from Black Bear, having built a successful, mission-driven business and a lasting foundation for continued innovation in commercial renewables.
