Since 2015, Black Bear Energy has partnered with industry leading LBA Properties and LBA Logistics to deploy battery storage, LEDs, and, most recently, solar across their portfolio, enhancing value, resilience, and tenant experience.
LBA engaged Black Bear Energy as an owner’s representative for onsite renewables, initially focusing on battery storage to reduce operating costs. Early projects included a landmark 2.5 MWh battery system—at the time, the world’s largest indoor energy storage installation—along with LED retrofits in Arizona and Nevada that improved lighting quality, safety, and energy efficiency.
Between 2016 and 2018, three additional storage systems were installed in California office properties.
Over the last five years, LBA and Black Bear worked together to implement a successful solar program for LBA. This includes the completion of 17.5 MW of community solar across four Maryland industrial properties, providing clean energy at reduced rates to local residents under the Maryland community solar program. Most recently, LBA is under contract and construction for 9 MW of community solar in Illinois and under construction for an additional 3 MW of hosted solar in Pennsylvania.
Through a decade-long collaboration, LBA has cemented its position as a solar and storage leader in commercial and industrial real estate. With Black Bear’s portfolio-wide guidance and support, more solar projects are in the pipeline, continuing to drive financial, operational, and environmental benefits.
