POSITION: Director – Procurement

LOCATION:  Rogers, AR

The Director - Procurement leads the renewable energy RFP processes and strategies that may vary from project to project, negotiates procurement terms on behalf of clients and builds strong relationships with counterparty channel partners and third party stakeholders.

Specific Responsibilities:

1.       Serves as the dealmaker for solar, renewable or energy projects and generates and cultivates relationships with renewable energy developers;

2.       Interfaces and coordinates with a results-driven multi-disciplinary internal team and external strategic channel partners to ensure the viability of identified projects through thorough analysis and strong project management;

3.       Assists in the creation of procurement plans and strategies for prospective customers including understanding and analyzing customer operations, business objectives and risk tolerances;

4.       Develops, maintains and manages a procurement pipeline that advances projects from strategic leads to implementation in support of Black Bear Energy business goals and objectives;

5.       Participates in the bid solicitation process, including channel partner question and answer period for multiple RFP processes;

6.       Negotiates power procurement terms and facilitates closing of lease contracts with counterparties in collaboration with transactional team members;

7.       Leads the bid analysis process and provides deal structure recommendations to support negotiation of agreements and financing arrangements;

8.       Serves as liaison between the procurement, project development and financial analysis teams to ensure that the deal structure, economic and tax assumptions are properly analyzed;

9.       Prepares project budgets and bid review recommendations;

10.    Manages multiple live deals simultaneously, while developing and assessing others;

11.    Develops, builds and manages external networks and relationships with strategic channel partners, service providers and industry contacts;

12.    Participates in setting and overseeing channel partner due diligence, project development and payment schedules;

13.    Participates in or leads due diligence of projects, as appropriate;

14.    Fosters an environment of cohesive teamwork that delivers best-in-class service and superior results to clients;

15.    Schedules tasks and prepares regular progress reports and presentations for internal and external use;

16.    Obtains supporting data including competitive intelligence on market opportunities for new projects;

17.    Closely follows industry trends and competitor activities, including policy/ financial incentives, power pricing and structured financing transactions;

18.    Attends and speaks at conferences in order to connect with developers and clients;

19.    Travel 15-25% on average but up to 50% at times;

20.    All other duties that may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:  

·      Commercial solar sales or purchase experience REQUIRED.

·      8+ years of increasingly responsible experience in the development of renewable energy, particularly solar PV, power projects in US, project development, marketing, or comparable experience 

·      8+ years applicable experience working in a commercial negotiation environment with excellent commercial management, negotiation and influencing skills

·      Willingness to travel, as needed, but at times up to 50%

·      Experience managing the solar energy development process and negotiating renewable Power Purchase Agreements

·      Working knowledge of the renewable energy power market and its dynamics

·      Demonstrated ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends, including building and maintaining strong relationships with off-takers and industry leaders 

·      Impressive track record closing renewable energy deals

·      Proven strategic management and entrepreneurial expertise acquired through leadership positions in the solar and renewable energy industry

·      Knowledge of both utility-scale and behind-the-meter development

·      Comfortable presenting to conference-sized audiences as well as developers and their leadership teams

·      Track record of successfully executing complex transactions with multiple parties

·      Strong prioritization, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks while adapting to new circumstances

·      Must possess an entrepreneurial attitude and a diplomatic approach

·      Passionate about the renewable energy/sustainability industry

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills

POSITION:  Associate – Client Operations

LOCATION:  Boulder, CO

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Client Operations Associate will be responsible for acting as a project manager and dealmaker for client solar, storage, fuel cell, and LED opportunities. The successful candidate will assist in all phases of energy project development, including the identification, evaluation and realization of projects. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations.

The Client Operations Associate will work closely with clients to ensure successful project identification, procurement, development and execution.  Key Responsibilities:

1.     Interfaces and coordinates with a results-driven multi-disciplinary team of internal and external strategic parties to ensure the viability of identified projects through thorough analysis and project management;

2.     Facilitates closing of renewable and clean energy projects;

3.     Manages multiple live deals simultaneously, while developing and assessing others;

4.     Assists in the planning and execution of business development opportunities from identification of opportunity through completion;

5.     Serves as liaison between the procurement, project development and financial analysis teams to ensure that the deal structure, economic and tax assumptions are properly analyzed;

6.     Develops and manages internal and external networks/relationships with service providers and existing clients;

7.     Works closely with clients to understand and manage substantive issues around financial, legal, energy and tax aspects of solar or other energy projects;

8.     Develops and maintains new and existing relationships with corporate C-suite executives as well as energy/facility/property managers, leading to solar or other project exploration and execution;

9.     Fosters an environment of cohesive teamwork that delivers best-in-class service and superior results to clients;

10.  Schedules tasks and prepares regular progress reports;

11.  Prepares presentations to Senior Management as requested;

12.  Develops and maintain relationships with industry contacts;

13.  Closely follows industry trends and competitor activities, including regulatory/ financial incentives, power pricing and structured financing transactions;

14.  Prepares project budgets and assists in the completion bid reviews; and

15.  All other duties that may be assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:  

·     Knowledge of or experience in solar PV, energy efficiency, energy storage, or power projects in US or international markets

·     Willingness to travel, as needed but at times up to 7-10 days per month

·     Previous applicable experience working with corporate clients

·     Knowledge of the renewable energy power market and its dynamics; the ability to
stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends

·     Strong prioritization, communication and organizational skills; and the ability to quickly
work into new tasks and accommodate with new circumstances

·     Must have an entrepreneurial attitude and a diplomatic approach

POSITION: Analyst

LOCATION:  Rogers, AR

JOB DESCRIPTION: This entry-level position will be responsible for the hands-on management of the project development and transaction execution process for distributed generation projects.  The Project/Data Analyst will be responsible for coordinating project development and transaction execution including engineering, design, interconnection, permitting and project investment analysis and approval activities. 

The Analyst will work closely with the analysis and development teams to ensure successful project development and execution.  Key Responsibilities:

1.     Analyst will assist in the planning, execution and management of all aspects of the day to day transaction and project development process for solar, battery storage, fuel cell, and LED retrofit projects.

2.     Works with executive leadership team identifying renewable energy opportunities based on client portfolios.

3.     Analyze key project details such as utility data, facility load profiles, and system operating data using software platform.

4.     Run financial models to estimate customer savings or value.

5.     Lead due diligence of projects, as appropriate.

6.     Collect and assemble utility data

7.     Acquire and manage data required for RFP process

8.     Participates in the bid review process and financial analysis to ensure that the deal structure, economic and tax assumptions are properly analyzed.

9.     Schedules tasks and prepare regular progress reports for internal and external distribution.

10.   Prepare customer cost savings analyses, comparing utility rates to PPA, lease or ownership prices. Prepare presentations to internal and external executives.

11.   Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties throughout all project phases, and develops and maintain relationships with U.S and/ or international industry contacts.

12.   Assist in the presentation of proposals to clients and channel partners.

13.   Closely follows industry trends and competitor activities, including regulatory/ financial incentives, power pricing and structured financing transactions.

14.   Perform other duties as required  

REQUIREMENTS:   Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, economics or other related degree preferred and one or more years of work experience in project management, analysis, or renewable energy.  Direct experience in managing the clean energy development process and financing strongly preferred.  The ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends, including building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners and industry leaders. Proven ability to gather, validate, and analyze quantitative information with accuracy and reliability. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects. Strong prioritization, communication and organizational skills; and the ability to quickly work into new tasks and accommodate with new circumstances. Must have an entrepreneurial attitude and a diplomatic approach. Ability to travel 7-10 days a month, as required. Ability to perform duties in a collaborative, unstructured working environment. Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills. Self-starter with strong organizational skills, extreme attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work product, and ability to multi-task under tight time pressures.
